Sunday Interior Design Guide

Sunday, May 17, 2015

I love these blue colors for today's collection of the home decoration guide by Anna. It matches my day here, that is not rainy, but not sunny either. It is blue and gray... I would think it was a sad and boring day, but Anna showed how it could be lovely :) I just need some oranges to brighten it up!

Jewelry boxes made of birch bark

Thursday, May 14, 2015

These are the last jewelry boxes that are mine that I want to show in this blog. They are very Russian :) I do not know if there is a similar folk art in any other country... but you certainly can get a large variety of items made and decorated with birch bark in Russia. They are often finely pierced.... and I love pierced pretty much anything :) So, I love my boxes a lot. Originally I got them to give away as gifts, but I could not part with them :)

I have found a couple of DIYs for anybody who is curious about making bark boxes. One is in English, but the boxes do not look like these at all. Here it is.

Another one is in Russian, I've put it through Google-translation for you. There are many pictures that show the process there. The boxes look just like mine (very close to them). This DIY is for somebody who is good with the tools. Here is the link.

I would love to make something like this. Though I probably will never attempt... just because I am very careful with my time and prefer to stick to jewelry making :)

Jewellery masterpieces. Diamond necklace by Piget

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

Necklace by Piaget. Coco Chanel invented this kind of necklace, which she showed in her first jewelry collection in 1932. It was called the Collier Comete. Jewelers had to figure out how to make a stretchable metal collar.

An item from my wish list

When my husband gave me a new smartphone, the first thing I did... I went to Etsy and looked through all the cases that I liked. Then I took a few days to really think about it and choose what was speaking to me. I love steampunk, so my choice narrowed done to just three cases. This one had gem stones, so I did not think for too long :)

This case is from theminifab etsy shop. In reality it is a bit darker than the picture, but I like it better this way. In fact, I was only thinking for as long as I did, because it was too gold and too flashy in the picture. I am pleased it is not :)

I have to say a few special words about Ryan, the shop owner. In his policy he guarantees 100% satisfaction and this is absolutely true. He is an awesome seller who will solve any problems for his customers.

If you are wondering what cases I was choosing from, you can see them at my Pinterest board
