Jewellery box by Eugene Watson

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Being a jewellery maker I keep my jewellery (for sale) in a very boring way... Well... in ziplock bags, that helps to slow down the oxidation process. However, I am very much interested in fancy jewellery boxes. This one is very interesting! I also like that this box is an art object that can be a part of the interior design of a room.

I made these earrings specially for one event. And I wore them for that event! That event was Vancouver Fashion Week where I was a participating jewellery designer with my new collection.

Bead Day. Dryad's Tiara.

Saturday, April 26, 2014

I am starting the "Bead Day" on Saturdays. I used to work with the beads and still love that variety of jewellery and objects that can be made with them. I also like interesting beads themselves. What I've done... I have given new tag Bead Day to all my old posts about jewellery made of beads or where some parts were made of beads. Wow! There were 34 posts like that!

Well... now I will be adding interesting things made of beads as well as some DIY projects. Just as if there is not enough eye candies in my blog :) This is my diet :) I avoid real candies and replace them with the eye candies! :)

The picture above is my own creation. There are a few more pictures in my web-site.

One of my ammolite gems for a dragonfly pendant

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

I've started showing my gems awhile ago... Every time I write that "I am going to do something with this stone". Why at least I won't come up with an actual idea and a sketch? This way I am going to be one step closer to creating a piece of jewellery with a stone from my gem collection!

I am starting right now with this ammolite. I am not saying that this is what I will actually do with the stone, but... maybe... I think the shape is very suggestive to make a huge dragonfly! (Click on the picture to open it bigger). The second stone is pietersite.

However, I do have dragonfly necklaces already! This one:

This is a pendant made of sterling silver and copper. The centre stone is turquoise and the eyes are blue topazes. The pendant necklace is for sale at my etsy shop here.

This is another dragonfly necklace that I also have at my etsy shop:

Its design was inspired by Art Nouveau. Dragonflies are common for Art Nouvea, so the choice of the style was obvious :) The stones are an amethyst and a rose quartz cabochon.

Wish list. Candle holder by Glen Jones.

Thursday, April 17, 2014

We are finishing renovating our main bathroom. My husband mentioned he might give me a shelf to put candles on... Well, well, well... Candles... That would be nice! What can we find as a candle holder?... I go straight to the Etsy and type...
I did not find anything I would like to see in our bathroom yet. However, I did find a fantastic candle holder! This one:

It goes to my Virtual Wish List. Why not! :)

Gold granulation technique? No, just clever imitation!

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I started my jewellery making adventure with working with the seed beads long time ago. Ever since I started working with metal I try to involve the beads into my designs. I think they add something special into the look... especially 24k gold plated beads like these. They are Japanese made, high quality and very uniform looking just like real luxury granulation technique made by very few modern goldsmiths.
I've made a few pairs just to see if others are going to feel the same about them... They are available in my Etsy shop:

Wish list. Egg holders.

Since the Easter is coming, I am on "egg topic" and looking for the egg holders :) I suddenly remembered, that I had a plastic egg holder in my childhood. Just like this one, actually!

Mine was red :) When I've come across them, I told my husband: "Look! Vintage egg holders! I had one just like them!"
My husband said: "You put yourself and the word "vintage" into the same sentence?!" :))
Well... I guess, I am :) I am past 30 after all! :)

However, I do not need egg holders just like those... So, I kept looking... I adore fancy woods, so I could not pass by these babies:

I almost started thinking of getting them, when I came across this one:

This one I really like! Considering I would need one for my son, and not for me, this one would be the best.
