One of my ammolite gems for a dragonfly pendant

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

I've started showing my gems awhile ago... Every time I write that "I am going to do something with this stone". Why at least I won't come up with an actual idea and a sketch? This way I am going to be one step closer to creating a piece of jewellery with a stone from my gem collection!

I am starting right now with this ammolite. I am not saying that this is what I will actually do with the stone, but... maybe... I think the shape is very suggestive to make a huge dragonfly! (Click on the picture to open it bigger). The second stone is pietersite.

However, I do have dragonfly necklaces already! This one:

This is a pendant made of sterling silver and copper. The centre stone is turquoise and the eyes are blue topazes. The pendant necklace is for sale at my etsy shop here.

This is another dragonfly necklace that I also have at my etsy shop:

Its design was inspired by Art Nouveau. Dragonflies are common for Art Nouvea, so the choice of the style was obvious :) The stones are an amethyst and a rose quartz cabochon.

I am always amazed when I see people's sketches, and they really don't realize that sketches are just as awesome as the finished piece. That sketch is SO good! Love the green color too. It's perfect for a dragonfly.

Thank you, ladies!
Kim, I do realize... :) I even have a "problem" with a sketch... I need a surprise factor when I create a piece of jewellery. A sketch takes it away from me...
