Creative day of a ceramic artist

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Do you like to watch an artist at work? I know I do! I am wondering how all those wonderful things are born: pictures, prints, jewelry, accessories, cosmetics products... everything handmade! How much time does it take? What tools and materials are used? What skills does it take? I find it fascinating to follow the artist's hands and get amazed how easy it looks... then, maybe, try it myself and get amazed again that it looked easier than I thought :)

Today I have my first guest artist who kindly agreed to show her creative day. This is Anna of Gentle Decisions. You might know her already if you had been following my blog. Anna makes beautiful collections of Sunday home decoration ideas and Monthly wedding catalog for my blog (You can see all Anna's guest posts here.)

I will let Anna to take over from here :)

Hi all! My name is Anna. I am a ceramic artist. My passion and specialty is flowers. I strive to create my flowers so they look as real as possible.

Today I will show you how I make cherry and apple blossoms. Here are my tools and materials:

First of all I make pistils and connect them to the stamens:

Now I need to make many petals and give them a dimension and texture of natural ones. Then they need to dry.

Here you can see that the apple blossoms are ready. Now I will start working on the cherry blossoms:

Here I dye the petals with a few tints of pink color:

Cherry blossoms are ready too now! They need to dry again:

Here are the finished apple blossom. They are drying too after the dyeing process:

Cherry blossoms need a few more touches with a dye:

The flowers are made for the hair clips and a ring. My first product in Etsy ever was the rings made of flower bouquets. They have become my signature product, so I always have them in my shop.

This is what I've made today:

I hope you enjoyed watching my creative day!

Wow these are amazing!! She made it look easy, but i'm pretty sure it takes a lot of attention to details, skills and patience to be able to do something like this. Congratulations and thank you for sharing! :)
