Gold granulation technique? No, just clever imitation!

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I started my jewellery making adventure with working with the seed beads long time ago. Ever since I started working with metal I try to involve the beads into my designs. I think they add something special into the look... especially 24k gold plated beads like these. They are Japanese made, high quality and very uniform looking just like real luxury granulation technique made by very few modern goldsmiths.
I've made a few pairs just to see if others are going to feel the same about them... They are available in my Etsy shop:

Wish list. Egg holders.

Since the Easter is coming, I am on "egg topic" and looking for the egg holders :) I suddenly remembered, that I had a plastic egg holder in my childhood. Just like this one, actually!

Mine was red :) When I've come across them, I told my husband: "Look! Vintage egg holders! I had one just like them!"
My husband said: "You put yourself and the word "vintage" into the same sentence?!" :))
Well... I guess, I am :) I am past 30 after all! :)

However, I do not need egg holders just like those... So, I kept looking... I adore fancy woods, so I could not pass by these babies:

I almost started thinking of getting them, when I came across this one:

This one I really like! Considering I would need one for my son, and not for me, this one would be the best.

Inspiration. Yahya Rouach's lamps

Thursday, April 10, 2014

Did I mention I loved pierced works? :) I could not pass by this artist's work. It is handmade, by the way! It is unbelievable, yet inspiring. I would never imaging doing so much piercing for a lamp... and he has tons of them! Maybe... one day... when I have a few free days (I am allowed to dream!) I could make... a small 3D object, probably more of a size of a Christmas tree decoration... :) Hm... I actually have a half-sphere of pierced brass... I know where it was before we moved last summer... Now we are in the middle of renovation and I cannot even go check if it is where I think it is... It will drive me crazy now... :) So, I should finish the post and try to forget about it at least till the end of our renovation :) Do not forget to visit Yahya's web-site. Enjoy!

DIY - Decorative Thumb Tacks

When I saw these colorful pins, I fell in love with them! One day I am going to try and make them... when I start using a board for the notes in a couple of years... at least, it is on my wish list :) Katie kindly allowed me to steal her DIY for my own blog. So, here it is, saved for future where I can find it easily :) Thank you, Katie!
