Knife made in Iran in XVI century. Kremlin museum. (Click on the picture to open it bigger)
(More knives made by jewellers)

My today's post is about my inspiration. My designs for my best pieces are inspired by Russian ornaments (I wrote about it before, here), as well as the technique. This next picture shows how the inspiration worked:

Round geometric pendant with white fresh water pearls

However, only when I saw that knife from  the top picture (the picture is from "The world of knives" book that I bought in Russia) I realized that I could do two layers of piercing. It was going to be double work, but I had time. This is how (sometimes) inspiration is being searched for. Not a simple process! :)

I loved working on these pieces. Here are just a few samples (all of them + many others are for sale in my Etsy shop):

Bear and its cub, silver and copper pendant

Forest pendant with gem quality kyanite

Art Nouveau dragonfly pendant with amethyst and rose quartz

Squirrel necklace, silver and copper

Bead art by Eleanor Pigman

Saturday, May 3, 2014

Today is my Bead Day, big Diet Day! Day when I take my eye candies instead of real ones :) Objects made of beads are really good eye candies for me, as I like beads and whatever can be made with them (pretty much anything!) This fish is made by a talented artist. Grab it while you can!

My gems. Turquoise cabochon for the Ocean Life collection

Both my turquoise pendants are gone...long time ago and very soon after they were finished... (this one and this one). I really need to make another turquoise Ocean Life Necklace... I got a few nice turquoise cabochons (well, to be honest QUITE a few). However, I like this one the best... so, when I can actually finally get to my soldering table, I will create a piece with this stone before I do anything else. MAYBE it will look like this...

Jewellery box by Eugene Watson

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Being a jewellery maker I keep my jewellery (for sale) in a very boring way... Well... in ziplock bags, that helps to slow down the oxidation process. However, I am very much interested in fancy jewellery boxes. This one is very interesting! I also like that this box is an art object that can be a part of the interior design of a room.

Show must go on by nataliakhon featuring Extra large black earrings with Swarovski crystals

I made these earrings specially for one event. And I wore them for that event! That event was Vancouver Fashion Week where I was a participating jewellery designer with my new collection.
