This image has really got me thinking. I love wood, it's so tactile and I sometimes find lovely pieces of driftwood on the beach. I've got a piece hanging over my bed that is like a 'pas de deux', a thick creeper of some sort that just looks like two dancers wrapped around each other. I'd much prefer to have my jewellery in a box like this than in a mass-produced synthetic soul-less piece.

That sounds like an interesting piece of home decoration! I love the the description of it!

As for the boxes... I always had a soft spot for unique boxes. When I realized, that I was leaving Russia, the first thing I did... I went to a jewellery store and bought traditional jewellery boxes :) Maybe I will do a blog post with pictures and show them off. They are not expensive, just something you cannot get anywhere else.

With all my pleasure :) It will be a research for me, as I would not be able to explain how they were made in English yet...

Well all I can say is that your English is a hell of a lot better than my Russian! It's after midnight now so goodnight & sweet dreams! Do you still dream in Russian? My Mum is a native Welsh speaker and even though she's been speaking English for 70 years whenever she's upset or worried she always dreams in Welsh!

No, no dreams in Russian :) It all depends... I studied jewellery making here. Then I was even teaching jewellery making, here also. I would not be able to teach in Russian! Another sample... I can crochet and knit well. I've learned that in Russia. I would not be able to teach anybody in English how to knit :)

I'm still here! Isn't it funny how our brains work? Right, now I am DEFINITELY heading for the duvet!

It is just the matter of knowledge. If I know the names for the techniques and tools, I can teach how to use them. If I do not know the names for these tools in another language, I will be saying something like this: "Hm... just watch what I'm doing" :)
