Sea bottom custom order pendant with chrisocolla

Monday, February 27, 2012

This is the order that I've gotten before Christmas from the same lady whom I made the surprise orders for. She really liked her previous pendants.

So... I got much more brave with my fantasy and made a pendant as if I was making it for myself. That means I have not been afraid of adding as many sea creatures and details as I wished.

There were two specific conditions, though. There needed to be a seahorse covering a white spot in the stone... and a turtle, of course :)

Beautiful colour this chrisocolla stone has! I have a rock similar to this one. I cannot wait now to make my own pendant with it!

Update: she liked her pendant very much!

Arrowhead pendant with a fire agate

Hm... This order is a gift from a mom to her almost adult son. She has chosen a stone for its metaphysical qualities and wanted to make it into a pendant. She did not really know what kind of pendant it had to be. Well... neither did I... However, arrowheads seem to be among popular shapes for the pendants for the guys... (My husband is no help as he does not wear jewellery at all). So, arrowhead it is! I hope the young man is going to like it.

Update: the young man liked his new necklace :)

Fashion Week Collection keeps growing

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Vancouver Fashion Week participation brought a new collection into life. It keeps growing independently from my plans :) Here comes an idea... and a new necklace or a pair of earrings are being born in a day or two... or three... Then I am looking at the result and wondering how have I even thought up anything like that?

Sea bottom pendants

Friday, February 10, 2012

This is one of my favourite styles to work in. I wish I had a little bit more time for these pendants... The stones and sea creatures are arranged on my table and waiting to be finished... for the last month... I at least got around to take some pictures of those two that were finished and put them into my etsy store.

I have to meet some dead-lines before I can continue...

My hat is in a book!

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

I have this nice hat from one of my Russian artist friends (Svetlana Bacileva). She knitted it with the beads.

She sent me a link to a nice catalog that had the pictures of her work yesterday. There is exact that picture that I have in my blog there! It is my hat!

It is really a very nice online book. I took a screenprint from the page with my hat, but I am including the link in case anybody wants to just go through that book and look at some other Russian arts and crafts.

Purple Agate Necklace

Monday, February 6, 2012

Spring is coming (I do not even mention Summer!) and I wanted to make something light. Playfull fish on a slab of an agate of a bottom-of-a-sea colour seemed to satisfy my mood. So, here they are!

Ancient Roman Coin Pendant

Sunday, February 5, 2012

This is a double-sided pendant, so the coin can be worn either way. It is very simple in design. However, I find it interesting, that I never thought of making a double-sided pendant that way before... just because I had no reason to think about it! This is how even a simple custom work can teach me a new trick!

The pictures are thanks to the courtesy of my customer Tricia.

Maple Leaf handbag

Saturday, February 4, 2012

This bag was made 4 years ago, when I spent a few month in Russia and did not really have anything to do. Christmas was coming and the shape for this handbag was inspired by the Christmas tree decorations. I had a personal exhibition at the Port Moody Art Centre in 2009 and that was the only event where I took this handbag to.
